  Wonderful story of a life journey that you would probably not see coming if you a part of it. And Briar, that’s exactly how it felt for her. Good character development, good plot management and development. The book has all the elements you can find in a very good book that is well-written. Why? Because the author draws you into the story and you find yourself involved in the story feelings emotions and all. Great book for sure. For transparency, I got the ARC of this book. 

It was my first time reading "The Story of Briar: Coming of Age in Rural East Texas," so I wasn't sure what to expect. On the other hand, I was hooked from the first page. This book isn't just a work of historical fiction; it's a vivid trip back to East Texas in the 1930s, a time when Americawas still developing.
 

The most impressive thing about the book for me was how well it researched the past. As I read Briar's story to her grandson Russell, I felt like I was there with them, going through the hard times of the Great Depression and the stress of the coming war. The struggles of life on a farm during this time were shown so realistically that it broke my heart and gave me hope.
 

Briar is the main character who makes this story stand out. Even though people teased her for being a tomboy and her family went through a lot of bad things, she is very strong. I felt like I needed a place like that to escape after reading about her connection to the family land and the creek that runs through the pines.
 

If you like historical fiction or just want to read a story that shows how strong and determined people can be, "The Story of Briar" is a great choice. Few books have moved me as much as this one. It reminds us of the hard times we've been through and the strength we have inside.   What an amazing story! I loved the plot more than any words can ever explain. The book is a romance genre and any romance lover will appreciate the immense value of this one! Highly recommended! 

The book is set in a time period that is one I have never experience nor knew much about. The book shows you just how hard it was for some people back then to survive. This also takes place in rural Texas which is another area I am not familiar with. But it really was great learning about something new and I loved the characters. Living back then was hard but there were also good times and less worries than we have today. The main character Briar is very likable and this kept me turning the pages. If you want a fun read about a time you may not be familiar with and what struggles early American's faced, this is a book you should check out.
